Niamh O Sullivan is a 20 year old mezzo soprano from Cork currently studying classical performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin under Dr.Veronica Dunne. Niamh has just returned from Milan where she was awarded a scholarship for an opera course. Niamh won the Dermot Troy cup for Oratorio at the Feis Ceoil this year in Dublin and also won most promising performer/singer at this years Feis Ceoil also. In February, Niamh came 2nd in the Irene Sandford Award for singers at The Royal Irish Academy of Music. Niamh most recently played the role of Eva Peron in ‘Evita’ in Belfast. Also ‘Olga’ in The Merry Widow and the role of ‘Lady Chiang’ in ‘The King and I’ at The National Concert Hall, Dublin. Niamh is a member of The RTE Concert Orchestra chorus conducted by John Wilson. This December will sing with Soprano Celine Byrne in concert in Kildare. Niamh will also be one of the main soloists at this years Lord Mayor Annual Christmas Concert at Cork’s City Hall. This month, Niamh was the soloist in ‘The Titanic Suite’ in The James Horner Tribute Concert with the RTE Concert Orchestra at The National Concert Hall, Dublin. In January, Niamh will play the role of the ’3rd lady’ in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the RIAM. Niamh is delighted to be given the opportunity to perform at Sligo Baroque festival this year.
