Sligo Academy of Music was founded in 2000 by its current Director of Music, Sligo-born musician Niamh Crowley, to create opportunities for instrumental tuition in the classical and jazz genres in the Northwest.

The Academy offers expert tuition by more than 30 experienced and dedicated tutors and provides individual and group lessons for all ages and levels.

The Academy’s many ensembles perform regularly throughout the year. In recent years the Sligo Academy of Music Orchestra have toured to Budapest, Prague, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona and New York.

Many of our past students are pursuing successful careers in the music industry both in performance and education and we are delighted to have a number of our alumni teaching with us.
