The Music of Telemann and Music for Viols

We rather proudly (see below for our extreme funding problem!) present our programme for this year's Sligo Festival of Baroque Music - what we are certain will be a very wonderful weekend of really world-class music-making.

The music of Telemann must have featured in pretty well all twenty one previous festival programmes, but it is still great to have a good excuse to focus on his music (and the music of his contemporaries) this year: the 250th anniversary of his death. We are particularly delighted that our “Ensemble in Residence” will be Camerata Bachiensis, a multi-award winning ensemble visiting Ireland for the first time.

Contrasting with the main focus on music in 18th century Germany, the festival also features virtuoso and consort music for viols, with a return to the festival of the distinguished viol players Reiko Ichise and Sarah Groser as well as some young Irish viol players.
